who is... Henry Rose
Photography: Henry Arroyo
Henry Rose Interior Design (aka Emily) has a decade of experience in the interior design industry. She holds a BFA in Design and Architectural Studies from the University of Massachusetts -- Amherst in addition to her studies abroad in Florence, Italy.
Originally a Boston, Massachusetts native, Emily moved to Southern California over four years ago. Her diverse portfolio includes high-end residential and commercial interior design projects.
'Henry Rose' was inspired by a baby nickname given by Emily's father. Henry was the result of her resemblance to a bald baby cartoon character in the Sunday newspaper (circa 1932), and Rose is Emily's middle name after her great-grandmother.
Emily has been featured in several publications. Notable press includes a feature alongside Andesign, Inc. firm owner, Dana Wang, in Modern Luxury San Diego magazine's 2016 'Women To Watch' and was named a 2017 Wayfair 'Designer of the Month’.
Previously a long-time volunteer for the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Boston Chapter, Emily now volunteers her time with Skillify -- a mentoring program introducing industry professionals to high school students.

HOW I GOT INTO DESIGN: As a kid, I'd go to friends’ houses for what was expected to be a ‘play date’ and would rearrange their rooms for fun -- their parents loved me. By 8th grade, I had already decided that I would pursue a career in interior design. I have stayed in the industry because of my passion to create an experience -- not just a design. I want a space to tell a story.
